Mr Clem Jansen, group managing director of Silvermines, the engineering group, increased his remuneration from £201,885 sterling (€306,000) in 1997 to £229,220 (€347,000) in 1998. Most of it (£198,313) was in basic salary and fees. The non-executive chairman, Mr Bob Morton, received £38,000 in fees while other non-executive directors received £18,000 each.
