Dive into the Internet of Things with Thingful

Thingful is a search engine for internet-connected “things” or devices that transmit data openly and publicly. These things could be anything from a weather sensor to an aircraft. Looking at what was listed around the Dublin area, there appear to be four main categories of “thing”: home, experimental, environmental, and especially dense in the city centre, transport.

Transport is the most exciting by far: it can range from sensors on a bike rack like the Global Bike Share at Heuston Station(which currently has 19 out of 21 spaces occupied), or it could be data transmitting from the fishing boats, cargo ships or ferries off the coast! I clicked on the Primrose and could see it was busy fishing off Howth. How wonderful!
