Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the smartest of all?

The Radisson hotel in Dublin city centre is the venue next Wednesday evening for the annual Corporate Deathmatch, sorry, Corporate Challenge in aid of Dublin Simon Community. Come along to witness the cream of corporate Ireland as they try to intellectually beat each other to a pulp.

The event, run by the Business Journalists Association and sponsored by BT Ireland, is really a posh table quiz where up to 50 businesses pay €1,000 each for a table, only to be lumbered with a know-nothing hack to "help" them with their answers.

RTÉ newsreader Bryan Dobson is once again the quizmaster.

He is ably assisted by High Court Justice Peter Kelly, the business beak who is the scourge of corporate ne'er do wells down at the Commercial Court. Don't cross that man.

Gordon MRM, the corporate PR firm run by Ray Gordon, will be defending its crown.

Others taking part include the best brains of the Dublin Airport Authority – always competitive – The Irish Times, Tesco, Bank of Ireland and AIB.

Legal firms have often dominated the podium in the past, but so far this year only the doughty folk at McCann FitzGerald have signed up.

Arthur Cox? William Fry? A&L Goodbody and the rest of the law firms? Are you going to let McCanns have a free run?

There are still some tables left for corporates to purchase, and journalists of any guise (business journalists are a dying breed, mostly worked to death) are also welcome to take part.

It's for a good cause.*
