Sean Dunne declared bankrupt in High Court

Developer Sean Dunne has been adjudicated to be bankrupt by the High Court in Dublin.

Ulster Bank supported by Nama had applied to the High Court for the developer to be adjudicated bankrupt over a debt of €161 million.

The High Court heard a petition for bankruptcy in Ireland had to be pinned to the front door of the Dunne home in Connecticut in the US this month when Sean Dunne's wife would not taked service of the papers for her husband.

A US marshall had approached the Dunne home as Gayle Killilea got into an SUV. The court heard she said her husband was away for a few weeks before driving away.

The US marshall then pinned the Irish bankruptcy petition to the front door.

Making the order in the High Court today, Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne said it is open to the debtor Mr Dunne to apply to have the adjudication set aside.

At the outset of the hearing Mr Dunne’s name had been called but there was no representation on his behalf.
