Reflex, the former computer rental company now focused on the over forties health and fitness market, has reported losses of £5.7 million sterling (€9.1 million) for 2001. Last September, Reflex announced the purchase of the UK-based Fitness & Leisure Group for €10.6 million having sold its First Rental computer rental business in the UK in a management-buy-out. Fitness & Leisure Group operates a range of specialist motorised exercise equipment at 31 centres.

In a statement yesterday, Reflex chairman, Mr Tony Kilduff, said trading had been more difficult since September and it had proved more difficult that expected to open additional centres as planned.

Since it was purchased, Fitness & Leisure Group has reported turnover of £1.6 million sterling, mainly generated by membership of its fitness centres.
