LONDON: Around 800 million people living in rural parts of India do not have access to clean water or sustainable electricity or communications technologies.

However, a group of scientists from Ulster are aiming to help change that.

The scientists are taking part in a major UK-India research initiative which could lead to the development of technology for remote management of utilities, water quality detection and flood monitoring. The University of Ulster-led consortium plans to establish a centre of excellence in next generation networks embracing the UK and India.
