Career: Has spent most of his working life as an accountant with Coopers & Lybrand. He joined the firm in Manchester in 1975 and moved to its Dublin office in 1980. During his time at the firm he specialised in insolvency work and was appointed to handle the administration of the Goodman group in 1989 when it got into financial difficulties. He joined Irish Permanent as finance director in 1991 and retains that position in the merged Irish Life & Permanent.
