British PR firm Beattie Media Group, which recently opened an office in Dublin, has hired Mr Kieran O'Byrne as managing director of its Irish operations. Mr O'Byrne has more than 13 years' experience in the industry, having previously worked with Park Communications, Murray Consultants and Slattery PR. Beattie has announced a number of other appointments. Mr Lee Dillon has joined as account director with responsibility for consumer PR, while Mr Neil McInnes has been hired as account executive.

Mr Aidan Byrne has joined accountancy firm Ryan Glennon & Co as taxation partner in charge of taxation services. Mr Byrne joined the firm in 1998 from the Revenue Commissioners and is a member of the Institute of Taxation.

A number of new appointments have been unveiled at Sp Networks Ltd, the company that operates in the Republic as an alternative maintainer and supplier of Nortel PABX equipment. Mr Kieran Carrick, who previously spent 20 years working at Cable & Wireless, has been appointed managing director of the company. Mr Ferghal Duffy has been appointed operations manager, while Mr Pat McEvoy has been appointed business development manager.

Mr Aidan Foley has been appointed general manger of Eazy Pass, the electronic toll collection system operated by National Toll Roads (NTR) at the East-Link and West-Link facilities. Before joining NTR, Mr Foley worked as a senior engineering manager with Balfour Beatty civil engineering in Britain.

Ms Pauline Gallagher has joined the Cara Group as an account manager selling IT solutions to the public sector, local government and health sector in Northern Ireland. Ms Gallagher has previously worked with BIC Systems, Digital and Dell.

NTL has promoted Ms Eileen O'Loughlin to human resources manager for all its Irish operations. Ms O'Loughlin assumes responsibility for the operational management of HR services for NTL Ireland, reporting to the HR director. Ms O'Loughlin was previously responsible for HR in the technology division of NTL.

Insurance and pensions consultancy Coyle Hamilton has strengthened its employee benefits and investments team with a number of senior appointments. Ms Catherine Keating joins Coyle Hamilton as a personal financial planning consultant from Irish Life. Also recently appointed as a pensions consultant is Mr Stephen Lalor, who previously worked with Watson Wyatt.

Conduit has made a number of changes to its board of directors. Mr Denis Creighton, chief operations officer for the group, and Mr Gary Purcell, managing director of British subsidiary 118 Ltd, have both been appointed to the board. Meanwhile, Mr Paul Coghlan has resigned from the board. Mr Coghlan will continue his role as Conduit vice-president for the Americas.

SAP consultancy EPC has promoted Ms Christina Sheil to partner. Ms Sheil heads up the company's change management and training programme, and previously held positions with Deloitte Consulting, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft.

A new company, Valerie Neenan Organisation Development, has been set up in Cork to provide organisational development programmes and processes for corporations in the south-east. The company is headed by Ms Valerie Neenan, who previously worked for Boston Scientific and Warner Lambert.
