Medentech, a Wexford-based firm specialising in effervescent water purification and disinfection tablets for use in human and animal healthcare, is the last finalist to be selected for the DHL Export Awards. The award will be decided early next year.

Medentech was established in 1984 and is an official supplier to UNICEF, the World Health Organisation and a range of relief agencies. It has just concluded a major distribution agreement with Bayer AG, the German group, to market its products in more than 40 markets.

"Medentech Ltd was selected by the judging panel because of its success in researching and then targeting new export markets and because of its continuous innovative approach to growing its market share. Since it was established in 1984, the company has become one of Ireland's remarkable export success stories," Mr Noel Byrne, director, DHL Worldwide Express, explained.

At the presentation of the award were Mr Byrne and Mr John Hackett of Mendentech.
