British soft drink maker Britvic has recalled packs of its Robinsons Fruit Shoot and Fruit Shoot Hydro soft drinks, fearing some of them may be damaged.

Britvic said it expects the recall to cut profit by £1 million to £5 million this year.

The Chelmsford-based company said ongoing tests identified some damaged caps, which may come off the soft drink packs.

The company's Irish arm said there was no product recall in the Republic as a different cap is used for Robinsons Fruit Shoot produced and sold here.

It was trying to resolve the issue so that normal production could resume.

Britvic also produces and sells brands such as Pepsi and 7UP in Britain and Ireland.

Shares of the company, whose own brands include Tango and J2O, were down about 2 per cent at 327.1 pence this morning on the London Stock Exchange.

Britvic results for the six months ended April 15th show overall revenue at the drinks company grew by 1.7 per cent to £641.1 million (€799.9 million).

Revenues in Ireland dropped 10 per cent on a constant currency basis and the division "continued to have a negative impact on the group's overall performance".
