PRETAX PROFITS at the Jackson Court Hotel in Dublin, home to Copper Face Jacks nightclub, last year dropped by 8 per cent to €6.8 million.

In documents just lodged by Breanagh Catering Ltd with the Companies Office, gross profits at the company edged up by 1.5 per cent to €7.6 million in the 12 months to the end of January this year.

The figures show the company also benefited from “other operating income” of €4.4 million – down 8 per cent on the €4.8 million recorded a year earlier.

The Jackson Court, on Dublin’s Harcourt Street, generates much of its revenue from its bar and nightclub business at Copper Face Jacks. It is owned by former garda Cathal Jackson. Jackson and his fellow director Paula Jackson took a drop in pay, with their aggregate salaries dipping 9 per cent to €559,040 during the period.

The numbers employed increased by six last year to 172, with staff costs of €2.83 million.

The returns show that the company’s fixed assets at the end of January last were valued at €12.1 million with the company’s freehold premises valued at €11 million.

Accumulated profits at the end of the year under review stand at €38.1 million, while the company has cash reserves of €26.5 million.

The company did not pay a dividend last year and, according to the company’s directors, the company “plans to continue its present activities and to increase turnover”.

The company achieved its pretax profits after accounting for €474,289 in depreciation costs and €1.3 million in administrative costs. The figures show that the company paid €1.1 million in tax.
