For those who won't be able to secure an ideal vantage point for next Wednesday's solar eclipse, the event will be available to view on the Irish Times on the Web. Ireland.com is presenting a live webcast of the last solar eclipse of the millennium at 11.11 a.m. on August 11th.

The webcast will be provided in association with Irish Ferries and the Internet Broadcast Company using live streaming from the Irish Ferries ship, Normandy, positioned north of Cherbourg. Sailing from Rosslare on August 10th, the Normandy expects to be positioned directly in the path of the total eclipse. The live broadcast will depend on good weather conditions, but visitors to the site will also be able to access background information on the eclipse and interviews with leading experts.
