Interim profits up 47% at Independent

Independent News & Media has recorded a strong set of half-year results, boosted by a good performance in the Republic and Australia and the beginnings of a recovery in its New Zealand operations. Pre-tax profits for the period rose 47 per cent to #61 million (£48 million).
