THE IRISH Music Rights Organisation Ltd (Imro) last year paid out just under €1 million arising from the costs of settling a High Court case with its former chief executive.

This is revealed in accounts filed with the Companies Office which show Imro had an exceptional payment of €951,148 relating to the "legal and settlement costs" of the case with its former chief executive Adrian Gaffney.

The settlement details were not disclosed in court last year. Mr Gaffney had been dismissed for alleged gross misconduct in June 2007 following a hearing of the Imro board disciplinary committee. However, in subsequent injunction proceedings brought by him against Imro, he rejected all the grounds for his dismissal.
