Harney issues pay warning

Prudent control of the public service pay bill is a key part of the Government's anti-inflation strategy and "delivering a significant tax package in the Budget" will facilitate the achievement of that objective, according to the Tanaiste, Ms Harney. Warning that inflationary pressures were building up in the labour market, she said it was the job of government to alleviate these pressures.
