Background: A native of Portmarnock, Co Dublin. He was chief executive of software company Jyris in the UK from November 1998 to December 1999 when Jyris and Integrity Holdings, then run by his brother Paul, merged. He started in the software industry in 1986 and worked with several companies including Siteman Software, where he was operations director from October 1992 to August 1997.

Why he's in the news: At the end of May, Integrity Software decided to postpone a planned flotation on Nasdaq aimed at raising about $70 million because of the sharp fall in technology share prices. Now Integrity is planning to get on with its acquisition strategy which has been on hold since January. The group is likely to look again at a Nasdaq listing when technology share prices improve.
