Green Plains Renewable Energy, the NTR-controlled, US-based biofuels producer, had a net income of $48 million in 2010, more than double the $19.8 million it recorded in 2009. Earnings per share at the Nasdaq-quoted group were $1.51 last year, up from 79 cents during the previous 12-month period. Full-year revenues were $2.1 billion in 2010, compared to $1.3 billion in 2009.
President and chief executive Todd Becker said the group had a particularly strong fourth quarter.
