Dutch IT services company CMG Telecommunications will create 250 jobs in Cork by 2002 with its decision to establish a software development centre in the city. Welcoming CMG to Cork yesterday, The Tanaiste, Ms Mary Harney said that "the winning of a software project of this scale for Cork was a significant development for IDA Ireland in attracting its implementation of the Government's strategy to attract major software and international services companies to establish operations in the south-west region.

CMG is a leader in specialised software for mobile telephony in the telecommunications sector and the new Cork centre will focus on the development and support of software for the company's market leading short-message-service products.
