Directors of a failed company that owed an estimated £800,000 sterling (€1

Directors of a failed company that owed an estimated £800,000 sterling (€1.3 million) to creditors has been disqualified from holding such a position for seven years.

Mr George Creighton, from Ballyclare, Co Antrim, had been a director of Belfast-based Nuheat Services Ltd, which provided building services installations to the construction industry for a two-year period to 1998, when it was wound up.

The High Court ruled that Mr Creighton had allowed the firm to trade in 1997-1998 although he knew it was insolvent.

The company had also failed to pay taxes and national insurance contributions.

The High Court said Mr Creighton was disqualified as a director on a number of counts.

These included acting recklessly by paying himself a salary and benefits which could not be justified and disposing of equipment which was subject to a finance agreement without permission from the owner.

In an unrelated case, Mr Ross Tittensor, from Carryduff, Co Down, was also disqualified for six years. Mr Tittensor was a director of Belfast-based Rosco Contracts which failed owing creditors more than £100,000.

The High Court heard that the company had traded as fire protection specialists from October 1996 to November 1997, when it was voluntarily wound up.
