Viridian Power Resources and CRH received planning permission for a £300 million gas fired power plant in north Co Dublin. Fingal County Council approved the 600 megawatt plant despite protests from local residents and councillors who opposed it on environmental grounds. The station will be situated at Huntstown Quarry which is currently owned by CRH.
Objectors to the plant now have a month to appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanala.
