Thirty new jobs will be created in Cork with the opening of a new software development centre by German group TR-Electronic.

The jobs, announced by the Tánaiste, Ms Harney, were welcomed locally as a positive sign of the city's ability to attract overseas investment.

The new centre, supported by IDA Ireland, will develop customised software for the company's products.

Progressive Democrats Senator Mr John Minihan said the news was very positive for Cork, particularly in the current "challenging economic" environment and indicated the city's ongoing ability to attract investment.
