ConvenienceShopping: A new style of convenience shopping is about to appear in Dublin with the launch of the first kiosks at three Luas stations.
Lisney has been engaged to find tenants for the first three kiosks, two of which have been built along the Sandyford to St Stephen's Green line and the other on the Tallaght to Connolly Station line.
The agents are quoting a rent of €20,000 for a kiosk of 125 sq m (1,345 sq ft) at Ranelagh, €15,000 for one with 47 sq m (506 sq ft) at Beechwood, and €15,000 for a kiosk with only 11 sq m (118 sq ft) at Smithfield.
All three kiosks are expected to handle the sale of newspapers, magazines and confectionery goods. The larger units may also sell groceries and sandwiches.
Lisney says it expects "enormous interest" in the kiosks and, in an innovative marketing measure - as befits this 21st century transport system - has set up a dedicated website with all the information needed including plans, specifications and application forms. The address is www.luaskiosk.co.
The Luas is to start operations on the Sandyford line today. Trams will run from 5.30 a.m. to 00.30 a.m. on weekdays and slightly reduced hours at weekends.
