Seven shops to rent at redeveloped former HQ of The Irish Times

SEVEN RETAIL units with a total floor area of 1,662sq m (17,900sq ft) are to be provided along D'Olier Street and Fleet Street as part of the redevelopment of the former headquarters of The Irish Timesin Dublin 2.

Developer P Elliott, who paid almost €30 million for the landmark building in June 2006, is spending almost as much again on converting and upgrading it for a mixture of offices, shops and apartments.

Joint agents HT Meagher O’Reilly and CB Richard Ellis are launching a marketing campaign this week to let the retail facilities at the newly renamed “The Times Building”. The shops will range in size from 98sq m (1,055sq ft) to 426sq m (4,585sq ft) over three levels in a mixture of Georgian and new build accommodation.

One of the outlets on Fleet Street will be used as a café/restaurant with a glazed frontage and a floor area of 456sq m (4,908sq ft).

All of them will be ready for fit-out in the first three months of 2010.

The overall scheme will also include 4,750sq m (51,129sq ft) of offices and four apartments.
