IN ONE of the largest retail lettings this year, TK Maxx is to open a flagship store of 3,995sq m (43,000sq ft) in Galway on Thursday.

The store at CityPoint, just off Eyre Square, is the retailer’s biggest venture in Ireland and Galway was chosen because of the city’s large young population.

TK Maxx is believed to be paying a rent of slightly less than €1 million for the store.

The shop comprises 1,486sq m (16,000sq ft) of retail space at ground floor level, 2,044sq m (22,000sq ft) at first floor level and 418sq m (4,500sq ft) of basement storage. It will stock fashion and homewares and employ 90 people. The new store will be TK Maxx’s 14th in Ireland.
