Aldi's aggressive plans

With Aldi announcing plans to mount an aggressive expansion programme in the UK, the company is expected to continue pushing ahead with the rollout of new stores in the Republic.  The German discounter has allocated £1.5 billion (€1.896 billion) to increase the number of stores in the UK from 400 to 1,500.

Kingfield Heath, which is a major wholesale distributor in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Britain and Scotland, is to open for business in Greenogue, Co Dublin, in one of the largest industrial lettings of the year.

Nigel Healy of Jones Lang LaSalle represented Kingfield Heath, which is leasing two units in Lucey Distribution Centre in Greenogue at a headline rent of €113 per sq m (€10.50 per sq ft).

The two units for Kingfield Heath extend to 8,024sq m (86,370sq ft) of modern high bay warehouse distribution space.

Skillnets for Sandyford

Skillnets Ltd has rented 665sq m (7,162sq ft) of office space in Q House at Furze House in Sandyford, Dublin 18. The letting coincides with a plan by Insomnia Coffee to rent the only retail units in the building.

Skillnets, a Government support group for Irish enterprises, is moving its 40 staff to Q House from offices at Dundrum Road.

Joint agents HT Meagher O'Reilly and DTZ Sherry FitzGerald had been quoting a rent of €376 per sq m (€35 per sq ft) for the space which has been let on a nine years and 11 months lease with one break option during that period.

The building was developed by Cedarhurst Developments. Liam Jesson of Bogle Estates advised Skillnets Ltd.

Insomnia Coffee, which is to open a coffee shop in a unit of 158sq m (1,701sq ft), has more than 45 high street outlets and concession stores. The agents had been quoting a rent of €484 per sq m (€45 per sq ft).

Terms agreed on Georgians

Agent Atisreal has agreed letting terms on two Georgian office buildings in Dublin 2.

No 50 Upper Mount Street has been let to Private Wealth Managers on a 20-year lease at a rent of around €170,000. The four-storey over basement building has a floor area of 370sq m (3,982sq ft) and 10 car-parking spaces to the rear.

Number 9 Harcourt Street, with a net internal area of 458sq m (4,929sq ft), has been let to building and civil engineering contractors LM Developments at a rent of €250,000.

There are eight car-parking spaces to the rear of the house which has been newly refurbished.
