HotelsOne of the great family hotels in Donegal - the Highlands Hotel in Glenties - is to be sold by the Boyle family who have run it for over 60 years.

Francis Brennan of estate agent Joe Brennan & Son is likely to be quoting a guide price of €5 million to €5.5 million for the landmark hotel which has 25 en suite bedrooms, a living quarters and separate staff accommodation. The Highlands Hotel has a good year round business, being known for "its warm atmosphere, good food and busy wedding business", according to the selling agent.

However, it also benefits greatly from Glenties' popularity during the summer holiday season. It is within easy striking distance of outstanding beaches and the golf links of Nasrin/Portnoo. The restaurant can seat 74 diners and there are two function rooms, one to accommodate 500 and the other to take 80. There is also off-street car-parking.
