€500,000 for former Claddagh National Piscatorial School in Galway city

Listed building fronts on to Claddagh Quay in the centre of Galway city

The former Claddagh National Piscatorial School fronting on to Claddagh Quay in the centre of Galway city is expected to attract considerable interest after being offered for sale by private treaty.

Joint agents GVA Donal O Buachalla and Power & Associates are guiding €500,000 for the three-storey listed building dating from 1846 which extends to 303sq m (3,260sq ft) and stands on a paved rectangular shaped site of 446sq m (0.11 of an acre). The distinctive building is being sold on behalf of the Dominican Fathers who have a church, priory and community hall closeby.

The house overlooks the Claddagh Basin on a busy road from the city to Salthill. The selling agents say it offers potential for conversion to a range of uses including a private house, apartments, offices, educational and tourism related as well as possible potential at ground floor level for retail including café and restaurant.
