Irish developers of multimedia titles are being given an opportunity to infiltrate European markets through participation in a competition launched this week at the interactive media trade show - MILIA - in Cannes.

The MultimediaArt '99 competition is aimed especially, but not exclusively, at individuals and small organisations, who demonstrate exceptional innovation in their use of new media, but lack the promotional budgets and know-how to market their products internationally. It also seeks to provide a showcase for Europe's best multimedia products and through extensive promotion, bring these to the attention of publishers and the general public.

The competition is being promoted in the Republic by the European Commission's INFO2000 support network, MIDAS-NET Ireland; tel. (061) 202428; e-mail: martina.flynn@ul.ie. Additional background information on the competition can be found on the Internet at http://www.europrix.org
