Anglo Irish Bank's monthly millennium bond requires £2,000 as a minimum deposit and offers an interest rate of 6.5 per cent for the first month. Because it is classified as a special savings account the DIRT is 20 per cent.

It is fixed for two years with the bank guaranteeing a minimum of 6.5 per cent for the first month, 6 per cent for months two and three and 5 per cent after that. If its regular monthly deposit rate is higher it is paid instead. Funds are available if 30 days' notice is given.

Its bonus deposit account is currently giving an interest rate of 6 per cent, although a minimum balance of £2,000 is required. The product is not fixed, although 0.5 per cent in extra interest is paid every year if the balance in the account is maintained at over £10,000 or no withdrawals are made during the year.
