Abbey move `housekeeping'

Abbey National has transferred its 8.7 per cent shareholding in the Irish Permanent from its plc company to Abbey National Beta Investments, another arm of its group. A spokesman for the UK group said yesterday that the move was purely a matter of internal " housekeeping".
