  • Arcade Fire, Dublin, December

    August 10, 2010 @ 12:46 pm | by Jim Carroll

OTR understands from an assortment of industry sources that Arcade Fire will play Dublin’s O2 on December 5, with a second date currently on hold for the following night. Full confirmation on ticket prices (we’re hearing €73), support bill (we’re hearing Vampire Weekend) and on-sale dates to come. These are the Arcade Fire shows which were predicted by OTR back in March. As this is currently unannounced, I’m marking the post as speculation for now and, if the info is wrong, I’ll set the Kilkenny hurling team on my “industry sources”.

UPDATE My industry sources (and Kilkenny hurlers) can rest easy. This gig is now confirmed for December 5 with support from Vampire Weekend and Devendra Banhart. Tickets go on sale next Friday and are priced from €55.80 to €66.70 which, with additional Ticketmaster fees and charges for purchasing the ticket via the web or over the phone, will bring the higher ticket price up to the €73 price. I’ve removed the “speculation” tag from this post as the show, support and ticket price quoted above are now confirmed. Question: is this the first time that the manager of a high profile act has confirmed and announced a gig via Twitter and a blog BEFORE the promoter gets the press release out?

Shock, horror, Johnny Drama – the second show in a big tent from the Canucks who sound like The Waterboys is now sold out too. It looks like only John Paul Two could have drawn more people to the Park.

We have been here before so you know what to do. Whinges, complaints, observations, belly-aches, catty comments about Ticketmaster, MCD, Win Butler or the deers in the Phoenix Park? You’ve come to the right place, bud. Start typing

Arcade Fire to play a second show in Dublin in October. Have a great weekend y’all.

UPDATE As exclusively, er, rumoured here, Arcade Fire play an extra date at Dublin’s Big Top on October 23. Tickets go on sale on Friday next at 9am. We’ll make the ham sandwiches and flasks of tea for the inevitable round of whinging and moaning and belly-aching on Friday next from 9.10am onwards as people realise this gig is also sold out.

  • Arcade Fire, Arcade Ire

    August 10, 2007 @ 9:56 am | by Jim Carroll

Well, the tickets went on sale at 9am and sold out within nanoseconds.

Already, On the Record readers are fuming.

    Here’s Sharon:

I’ve been trying to buy tickets since 9am online and each time – ever since 9am, I’ve been told there were none left. How could 10,000 tickets possibly have been sold within no time at all?

    And Paul:

The service charge for these tickets is an absolute disgrace. I just paid €24.60 EUR Service charge on 4 tickets. I heard Micheal Martin recently on the radio saying some comission or other was set up to look at prrcing charged by agencis but they would not actually be querying the service charge. It is a disgrace, a complete rip-off and must end.

    And Ben:

Gone in less than two minutes? Anyone know how many were available?

    And Enda:

Why can’t I get them on ticketmaster????????

    They’re sold out, dude.

Anyone else not feeling the love this morning? Don’t talk to Joe, type to Jim. We do hope Win Butler’s and MCD’s bean-counters are chuffed to bits this morning.
