About Jim Carroll
I write about music and the music business for The Ticket , the weekly entertainment supplement with The Irish Times, and have been doing so since it was launched in November 2000. On The Record is the blog of the column which I write for The Ticket.
Before this, I did time as a journalist and editor for a rake of publications here and in the UK, and worked in the music business where I co-founded the Lakota record label, worked in A&R for several UK labels (including Go! Discs, Warner Music and Dedicated Records) and worked as a press officer for London Records
I’m also the co-founder of the Choice Music Prize, the Irish Album of the Year event, and present a weekly radio show on Dublin’s Phantom FM.
