One of the most impressive new artists OTR came across in 2016 was Maria Kelly. Her track “Stitches” was one of our tracks of the year, while her set at Hard Working Class Heroes showcased an artist with great musical gumption and guile.

Kelly’s new track “Far Below” is taken from her forthcoming debut EP “The Things I Should”, set for release on Veta Records on May 19. It’s a gorgeous thing, a song which pinpoints the Co Mayo native’s songcraft when it comes to tapping emotion and poignancy.

Kelly will be on tour in the coming months with dates at Spraoi Studios, Waterford (April 29); Róisín Dubh, Galway (May 3); Connollys, Leap (May 5); Levis Corner House, Ballydehob (May 6); Spirit Store, Dundalk (May 10); The Mac, Belfast (May 12); The Clock Tavern, Westport (May 13); The Great Escape festival Brighton (May 18); The Bowery, Dublin (May 24) and Coughlan’s, Cork (May 26). All dates bar the ones in Brighton and Dublin with Ailbhe Reddy.
