From the paper: Dave Allen on the age of streaming

An interview with Beats Music’s director of artist and music-industry advocacy

In the pink: Dave Allen

Dave Allen has worn many hats down through the year, from bass player with Gang Of Four to the self-described “lone wolf” commenting on the music industry’s various tech-led comings and goings. Allen is currently director of artist and music-industry advocacy at Beats Music, Jimmy Iovine, Dr Dre, Trent Reznor and Ian Rogers’s new streaming service which has marked 100 days in business (see this Billboard piece for a rundown on how they’re faring so far). I spoke to Allen about his new role at the company, his thoughts on music streaming and the “inflamed rhetoric” around the current debate. You can read the piece here.
