The National play Cork’s Live at the Marquee on June 28. This Harmonic gig is one of a handful of European shows the band are playing in June and July and the band’s only Irish show this summer. Tickets go on sale on Thursday February 28 at €35 (plus Ticketmaster “Boxer” fees) each. A new album, the follow-up to 2010′s “High Violet”, is expected in 2013, but no release date is yet confirmed for it.

The band’s last Irish show was that infamous appearance at Oxegen in 2011, when they played to a few hundred people due to a silly booking decision by the festival booker. It’s safe to assume that this one will a lot better attended. It’s also their first date in Cork since they played the Triskel Arts Centre in December 2002.
