Earlier this week, I wrote about what could be in store for summer 2013 on the big-gig front. Since the piece appeared, there’s been even more speculation about who might be coming to Ireland and where they might be playing. As it’s Friday afternoon, it’s time for a little fun so here’s all the speculation currently doing the rounds. Please note that this is speculation, but don’t be surprised if some of what’s below comes to pass.

Rihanna: currently in a big plane zipping around the world and set to play Ireland next year. Croke Park has been mentioned. Support from David Guetta?

Eminem: yes, remember him? The promoters hope you do. Apparently, there are “talks”.

Bruce Springsteen: a lot of speculation about a 2013 return for The Boss, who has been a popular visitor to these parts (though he has never quite topped his 2008 three-night-stand at the RDS in terms of numbers). Interesting rumours from Shannonside that he may be playing Limerick’s Thomond Park.

Mumford & Sons: set to be one of the acts playing the Phoenix Park next summer apparently.

The Script: also on the slate for the Park.

Beyonce: apparently, also in the mix for ’13. Reckon her Superbowl 2013 show is going to be hot.

Oxegen: Oxegen will return in some shape or other next year with perhaps a new name, definitely a new venue (we’re hearing a Co Meath location is likely) and maybe an old name at the top of the bill (The Stone Roses).

Punchestown: do you think a multi-day dance festival would work wonders here? One promoter seems to think so. EDM is so hot right now.
