While many OTR readers will be brushing up on their Catalan (or Portugese) for Primavera Sound in June, there are two damn good festivals happening across the Irish Sea in May which may take your fancy.

We’ve written here before about the Camden Crawl (and yes, they’re coming to Dublin this year for the Camden Crawl Dublin on May 11 and 12) and they’ve just released their first batch of acts for this year’s London event, which will take place in various venues around Camden from May 4 to 6. The first batch of acts to be announced are: Admiral Fallow, Alpines, And So I Watch You From Afar, Alabama 3, Anterled Man, Arrows Of Love, Basement, Bastille, Baxter Dury, Ben Westbeech, Blacklisters, Black Moth, Blackhoods, Boy Friend, Brandt Brauer Frick, Brontide, Bxentric, Cashier No 9, Charli XCX, Chew Lios, Cymbals, Death In Vegas, Dog Is Dead, D/R/U/G/S, Dutch Uncles, Echo Lake, Fanzine, Fear Of Men, Fiction, Funeral Suits, Ghetts, Hawk Eyes, Hey Sholay, Iceage, Icona Pop, James Cleaver Quartet, Jape, Jaymo & Andy George, Keep Shelly In Athens, Kwes, Lioness, Lucy Rose, Marmozets, Melodica Melody & Me, Night Angles, Pariah, Peace, Polarbear, Psychologist, Rolo Tomassi, Roska, Rubberbandits, Sex Hands, Spector, Team Me, The Barr Brothers, Theme Park, Toby Kaar, Tom Staar, Toy, True Tiger and Willy Moon. More acts will be announced. Tickets are now on sale from £67.50 (weekend) and £39.50 (day ticket) plus booking charges. DOI: I am one of those on the selection committe and will be co-hosting a night with Nialler9 during the event.

We attended The Great Escape in Brighton last year and had a great time. This year’s event runs from May 10 to 12 in various venues in that lovely seaside town and acts playing include Alabama Shakes, Lianne La Havas, EMA, Maximo Park, Booka Shade, Willy Mason, Foy Vance, Micachu & The Shapes, We Have Band, Tanlines, New Look, Shabazz Palaces, Toy, Kwes, Gross Magic, Disclosure, Spoek Mathambo, Foxes, Vondelpark, NZCA Lines, Boy, Oliver Tank, Psychologist, My Best Friend, Seasfire, Africa Express Sound System, Dry The River, Spector, Friends, Howler, Zulu Winter, Grimes, DZ Deathrays, Django Django, Eagulls, Perfume Genius, Alt-J, François And The Atlas Mountains, Young Magic, Peace and tons more.
