Charlie – awesome tune, isn’t it? Haven’t a clue about the new album because the label has not sent it to me. It’s out Fri week so maybe they don’t want any press or radio play this time around.

Liked that Errors song, what was it you said? “Starting Rock Action Records is the only good thing that Mogwai have ever done,” zing!

The New Amusement tune was good too. I think they’re a band that could sell records.

I had thought it would be hard to beat Numbers/C16 and En Papier, but “We want war” is awesome.

as an aside, do you agree that Bono should try making original music before he ventures into the realms of attempting original thought?

Ian – :-) glad someone heard that zinger. Just listening to the EP from Any Other City that that New Amusement tune is on – quality galore from Hired Hands, The Tender Trap and Feed the Bears

127.0.0.1 – I tell you, if the album is as good as that single, I’ll be over the moon. Will be over the moon too if the label get the finger out and get the album to hacks and DJs.

As for Bono – and you are obviously refering to his latest attempt to be more John Waters than John Waters himself http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/03/opinion/03bono.html – it’s further proof that one should always stick to what one knows best. In Bono’s case, it seems to be talking out his ass rather than writing stadium-filling tunes. Plus his reference to American footballl?? WTF?

They have had this up on their You Tube site for about a month. Hidden is set to be another excellent album. They appear to be keeping to the repeating motif idea. In my humble opinion this band are the musical equivalent of Peter Greenaway’s movies…

127.0.0.1 – will let u know about the album when it arrives. I thought “Beat Pyramid” was a fantastic, far-reaching album and really hope the new one is as good.

Bono’s NYT Op-Ed is a hoot from start to finish and has, deservedly, been drawing ire from many quarters. One of my favourite lines:

It hurts me to say this about democracy (and I know because my band is one)

    No I in TEAM, Bono.

Why did no one attack Bono and Hansard on Christmas Eve? It would have made my Christmas.
