Malcolm Gladwell in Dublin next week

    Jim Carroll

Thanks to Sarah for the heads-up on this. Malcolm Gladwell will be speaking at the John Hume Institute at UCD on November 27. Gladwell is the author of The Tipping Point and Blink and the lecture ties in with the publication of his new book Outliers. Admission to the lecture is free and there’s more information here.

Bollocks. It clashes with Beach House at Whelans. Hmmmm, a night of social-psychological intellectual theorising on how small events have big implications for society with Malcolm ‘Sideshow Bob’ Gladwell or go and get pissed in Whelans listening to some woozy MBV/Mazzy Star-esque indie dream-pop types. Too many students at Gladwell. Beach House it is.

Sean D – funny, my instant reaction is to go

Quint – Starts at 7 bells so reckon it will be over by the time Beach House (or Foals who also play on Nov 27) start.

All booked out, folks. Emailed the bossman who says it’s full, and there’s a waiting list.

Feargal – I enjoyed it too. And yes, it’s weird that this was no flagged anywhere else (at least, not that I saw). Wonder will there be as many there for the next lecture in the series?
