  • Electric Picnic - the countdown has begun

    August 28, 2008 @ 8:15 am | by Jim Carroll

    (1) Check out our Electric Picnic special which features videos from Lisa Hannigan and will be where you will find the Daily Ticket on Saturday and Sunday plus a host of other news and updates over the weekend.

    (2) How about an Electric Picnic mix-tape? With Muxtape out of commission while they have a chat with the RIAA about stuff, On The Record has decided to go with 8tracks to house the latest mix. It’s available for you to listen to right now right here. Press play and enjoy.

    (3) The Picnic site promises that the running orders for the music stages are “coming soon” (the times are up for the other stages). but Quint is already ahead of them. Ideal for those who want to get a head-start on planning stuff while they’re supposed to be working for the man today.

    (4) First reports and photos from the festival site this afternoon. Stay tuned.

All you need to know is that You’re Only Massive are playing This is Pop Baby tent at 2.15pm on Saturday.
Megan will be making special appearance.
    Fink will be live drawing.
David Murphy of Queen Kong will be playing guitar.
    Paddy will be wrestling.

Gwen@10..it’s 100 per cent genuine, it couldn’t actually BE any more genuine, if you get my drift. You can check it against the official timetable that has just appeared on EP website.

I assume everyone has gotten their hands on one or other of the timetables floating around. I haven’t been over to check if the official ones are up, but this one of the main music stages is nice, tidy and small for printing.

There’s a very good chance that Kraftwerk or Depeche Mode will be playing on the Electric Picnic this year.

Kraftwerk are now minus founding member Florian Schneider but their recent tour without him didn’t seem to be effected. And they have released dates for an upcoming 2009 Tour. So thye may very well be there. Hopefully they can be convinced to do work with POD again after the roadies made a B*****cks of the stage set in the Royal Kilmainham Hospital.

Depeche Mode will also be in the middle of a tour and I know they are anxiuos to play Dublin so this could be their chance.
