Bruce Springsteen rocks up to Croke Park on Sunday, May 19th, for the final date on his four-concert tour of Ireland. Over the three gigs to date, Springsteen and the E Street Band have enthralled and surprised fans in equal measure.

It seems like an age since he took to the stage in spectacular fashion at Boucher Playing Fields in Belfast, which our reviewer described as an “immense show”.

The Boss kicked off at a damp and wet Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork, on Thursday evening with a cover version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Who’ll Stop the Rain, before leaving almost everyone in the 40,000-plus crowd a little teary eyed by closing with a cover of The Pogues’ Rainy Night in Soho, in tribute to the late Shane MacGowan. In between, he played several songs suggested by members of the crowd holding placards, including Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.

Last Sunday night at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny, Springsteen also played a passionate rendition of A Rainy Night in Soho. Fans told The Irish Times it was a “performance full of emotion and genuine warmth” and “a phenomenal and incredible evening”.
