Tech Tools: ZTE’s Axon 30 has cunningly placed camera

Neat phone comes with light-sensitive 2.24um large pixel camera

ZTE Axon 30

With the emphasis on big, beautiful displays, phone makers are becoming increasingly creative with the placement of the cameras. So much so that you might struggle to figure out exactly where ZTE’s Axon 30 front-facing camera has gone. Simple: it is under the display. This isn’t the first time ZTE has pulled this off; the Axon 20 also featured the hidden camera. This time out, the under-display camera area of the screen has a density of 400 pixels per inch, and seven layers of materials and three processing technologies to make sure the camera gets enough light. It also has a larger light sensitive 2.24um large pixel camera.

Refresh rate

The main camera sounds impressive too – an AI quad-camera, with a 64 megapixel main camera, a 120-degree wide-angle camera, a 3cm macro lens and a depth-of-field lens. The phone itself has a 120-Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate, so not only will the 6.9 inch Amoled display be smooth to scroll, it will also be incredibly responsive to touch. The global launch of the phone is set for September.
