WELSH rugby fans will get the chance to bid for Cardiff Arms Park lock, stock and barrel. The WRU are putting everything up for sale including the turf, the floodlights, the scoreboard and the goalposts.
The "everything must go" auction will take place on Sunday, April 27th, and entry for two people can be obtained for the price of the £8 catalogue.
Richard Jasinski, secretary of the WRU, said: "We want to give our supporters the opportunity to acquire pieces of the National Stadium and we felt an auction would be appropriate.
"We want to raise as much money as possible which we can then plough back into the game."
The stadium is undergoing a £108 million re-development in preparation for the 1999 World Cup, with the last big game the SWALEC Cup final on April 26th the day before the auction.
A spokesman for the auctioneers said: "We intend to sell the pitch in square metre strips, and everyone will have an opportunity to bid for parts of probably the most famous rugby ground in the world."
Not only will the turf and 20,000 seats be up for grabs but also fixtures and fittings from the changing rooms and entertainment suites including the dance floor, bars, carpets and catering equipment.
