West Bromwich 2 Crystal Palace 2: West Bromwich Albion look increasingly likely to exit the Premiership at the end of the season and Crystal Palace to stay in it following a night of high drama here.
West Brom - who struggled to take advantage of Palace playing for all but 13 minutes of the game with 10 men following the sending off of Gonzalo Sorondo - looked to have snatched an improbable victory when substitute Robert Earnshaw put them ahead in stoppage time.
But Palace, showing trademark determination, restored parity when substitute Aki Riihilahti scored even later.
Bryan Robson made two changes to the West Brom line-up that had drawn against Spurs in Saturday's FA Cup tie by replacing both his strikers, Robson opting for the more physical attributes of Geoff Horsfield and Kevin Campbell.
Zoltan Gera's through-pass for Horsfield to chase resulted in Sorondo bringing down the Albion striker and being sent off.
Within two minutes of the restart, Palace - courtesy of route-one football and an error by Darren Purse - took the lead.
Kiraly launched a prodigious clearance, Purse ducked underneath it in anticipation of Hoult collecting the ball. But Johnson's anticipation was even keener and he nodded the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.
West Brom wouldn't recover until late, when two goals should have secured them three valuable points. Palace, however, can be very happy with taking a share.
