Naas preview and news: The Arkle hopeful War Of Attrition tries to get his Cheltenham campaign back on track at Naas today and can make it two from two over fences.

Conor O'Dwyer's mount struck first time out this season at Thurles but War Of Attrition was then hit with injury and today's BBA Ireland Opera Hat Novice Chase is a vital step in getting him ready for the festival.

Ranged against the horse who only narrowly failed to Brave Inca in last season's Supreme Novices Hurdle are the likes of the Tramore winner Green Belt Flyer and the consistent Old Flame.

However, while War Of Attrition will undoubtedly be better for the run his class could just get him home.

Danse Macabre failed by only half a length to beat the Fairyhouse specialist Bluestone Lad last time out and that form received a boost when the latter won very well again last weekend. Danse Macabre looks one to keep on the right side of in the handicap hurdle.

Slim Pickings was a Gowran bumper winner from My True Romance and Robert Tyner's horse should go even better now he goes jumping in the second maiden hurdle.

Meanwhile, Owner Andy Stewart has confirmed that My Will will tackle the Irish Independent Arkle Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival.

The five-year-old had been considered a more likely contender for the longer Daily Telegraph Festival Trophy, but following Wednesday's news that Kauto Star was out for the season, connections have had a rethink.

My Will, like Kauto Star, is trained by Paul Nicholls, and he is already a four-time winner this season including Grade Two events at Cheltenham and Uttoxeter.

Regular partner Ruby Walsh had thought Kauto Star unbeatable, but he has now advised Stewart to run. Stewart said: "We decided after a board meeting between myself, Ruby Walsh and Clifford Baker (Paul Nicholls' head groom) that we are going to change our tactics.

"We are going to keep the horse back to two miles. I know I've said that perhaps two and a half is better for him, but we are going to aim him at the Arkle at Cheltenham."

My Will is now set to continue his preparations for the Festival in the Michael Page International Kingmaker Novices' Chase at Warwick next Saturday.
