The great Olympic gymnast Olga Korbut (right) was in Ireland this week and not a word appeared about her in the national media except for a short piece in the Examiner noting her arrival in Cork City for a promotional visit. Unusual that. Korbut turned around gymnastics when "The Munchkin of Munich" charmed the sporting world with her performances at the 1972 Olympics.

Now living in Atlanta, Georgia Korbut was approached for an interview by this newspaper but it never came off.

"We do charge a fee," said her agent, a charming lady with a double-barrelled name.

"How much," we asked.

"Well that depends," we were told.

"We don't pay," we said.

"We'll get back to you," we were told.

Olga flew out of Ireland on Tuesday at 4 p.m. We're still waiting for her to come back with a decision.
