As Liverpool's run of six straight wins came to an end last night with a goalless draw at rivals Everton, the way is left clear for Manchester United to clinch the title today.

United will be crowned champions with four games to spare if they win at Southampton, and should they fail they will get another chance on Monday when they host Chelsea.

United have 76 points from 33 games to the 66 from 34 of Liverpool. Arsenal are third on 60 from 32 games, Leeds fourth on 60 from 33 and Chelsea fifth on 58 also from 33.

Meanwhile, Celtic interim manager Kenny Dalglish has hit out at the "mole" who leaked details of the club's approach to Guus Hiddink.

"I think it has been well publicised that there have been conversations regarding the club and Guus Hiddink which, unfortunately, for ourselves and through the choice of other people, have been brought into the public domain," said Dalglish.

Dalglish refused to be drawn on the subject of a link between Celtic and Liverpool's Titi Camara.

Hibernian boss Alex McLeish believes young striker Kenny Miller is hitting top form again after missing out on Scotland senior call-up.

"He's done very well but now he has got to take the next step," said McLeish.

McLeish will not be following up his interest in French midfielder Philippe Cuervo after being on trial with the club this week. "Philippe's gone. I didn't think he was for us," said McLeish.

Meanwhile Brazilian star striker Ronaldo of Serie A giants Inter Milan left a Paris hospital yesterday after a final consultation with his surgeon Gerard Saillant.

The stricken player avoided waiting journalists and fans by using underground tunnels to leave the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital en route to Milan.

Approximately 50 supporters were left disappointed by the crafty exit as well as a host of journalists and photographers hoping for a glimpse of the 23year-old star. A waiting limousine was apparently a decoy as the vehicle left without Ronaldo in sight.

After a long lay-off for a similar injury, Ronaldo tore a tendon in his right knee just minutes after his return to action in last week's Italian Cup final first-leg.
