SIGERSON CUP QUARTER FINALS: UCC 0-14 GMIT 0-10 UCCWERE all-the-way winners at the Mardyke yesterday. The Cork students began brightly, sweeping four points in front inside eight minutes before the visitors settled.

GMIT captain Paul Conroy helped wrestle control away from UCC at centrefield, while Stephen Griffin’s free-taking cut the gap to 0-8 to 0-6 by the interval.

An Aidan Campbell free made it a one-point game for the second time on the resumption, but that was the closest GMIT came as midfielder John Buckley helped UCC dominate most of the second half.

Forwards Barry O’Driscoll and Séamus Hayes were a handful throughout and claimed UCC’s last three points to book a semi-final spot in Maynooth.
