Dr McKenna Cup/Tyrone 3-14, Cavan 0-7: Tyrone began 2005 on a positive note when they outplayed Cavan in the opening round of the Dr McKenna cup at Breffni Park yesterday.

Helped by goals from Stephen O'Neill in the seventh minute and Enda McGinley five minutes before the interval, Tyrone were 2-10 to 0-4 ahead by half-time.

In an incident five minutes after the re-start both sides lost a player when Cavan's Peter Reilly received a straight red card and Tyrone's Brian Dooher a second yellow.

Tyrone added a third goal through Martin Penrose to achieve a relatively easy win.
