New signing Mike Turner made a dramatic impact in his first game for Finn Harps on Saturday night, scoring once and setting up another as the home side romped to a 4-0 win over Waterford.

Turner, who is on loan from Barnsley, tapped in from close range in the 53rd minute, after Jonathon Minnock's low cross had evaded Waterford goalkeeper Michael Devine.

Harps had taken the lead in the 22nd minute when Fergal Harkin scored a penalty after James Mulligan had been pulled back inside the box by Tim Mcgrath.

Waterford created three clearcut chances after that from which they should have scored.

Karl Gannon blasted wide from six yards in the 32nd minute and seven minutes later Waterford were guilty of another woeful miss when Alan Kirby blasted wide from close range.

Their wayward shooting continued in the second half when Robbie Griffin burst past the Harps defence in the 47th minute but then shot wide as McKenna came to close him down.

Fergal Harkin made it 3-0 in the 56th minute with a well struck free kick from the edge of the box.

That goal killed the game off, but Harps managed to find the net once more before the end when Turner's 77th minute shot deflected off Devine to James Mulligan, who gleefully scored.
